Purpose in Spending
Two lists of what matters. The bank statement is more honest.
- Out loud
- On the statement
- Family time matters most
- Late nights, unused subscriptions
What someone says matters most and what their bank statement says matters most are often two different lists; and the second list is the more honest one.
In Practice
Someone who says family time matters most, but whose spending shows late nights at the office and a subscription list nobody uses, has a statement that disagrees with the statement they'd make out loud.
Generic Example
Someone who says fitness matters to them, but whose calendar has no time blocked for it, has a schedule that disagrees with what they'd say if asked.
Ask yourself
If a stranger only saw my last three months of spending, what would they guess actually matters to me?
