Spending on What Actually Matters

Most fun spending is forgotten.Experiences and skills last.

₹8,000 on a whim
₹8,000 on a trip
Rarely remembered
Remembered vividly

Most spending meant to be enjoyable is forgotten within weeks, the exceptions are usually experiences, skills, or time with people, not things, and noticing which is which changes where the same money should go.

In Practice

Looking back at a year's "fun" spending, an ₹8,000 weekend trip is often remembered vividly while ₹8,000 spent on things bought on a whim rarely is; same money, very different return.

Generic Example

Years later, people remember the trip they took, rarely the exact gadget they bought the same year.

Ask yourself

Of everything I spent money on for fun this year, what do I actually still remember?
