Money & Security
Security isn't the number in the account. It's what you can reach.
- ₹20 lakh, locked
- ₹6 lakh, accessible
- Penalty to take it out early
- More real security
Financial security isn't a number in an account; it's the gap between what you'd need in a real emergency and what you could actually get to without selling something you don't want to sell.
In Practice
₹20 lakh sitting entirely in a 3-year fixed deposit with an early-exit penalty provides far less real security than ₹6 lakh sitting in an instantly-accessible emergency fund, even though the first number is bigger.
Generic Example
A locked safe full of cash you can't open in an emergency provides less real security than a smaller amount kept somewhere you can actually reach it.
Ask yourself
If something went wrong tomorrow, how much of what I have could I actually use, not just how much do I have?
