A real, unedited stretch of price history. What do you do before you know what comes next?

Sign inThis Lab shows a stretch of real daily price candles for a large Indian stock and asks what you would do. You see only the days up to a point, and nothing after it. You choose to act on what looks like a clear signal, to note it and wait for confirmation, or to do nothing, and then the Lab reveals what happened over the following trading days. The windows are fixed stretches of real history, not chosen because they look clean.
How to use this Lab
- Read the chart: real daily candles ending on the date shown. Nothing after it is shown yet.
- Open the reminder of chart-pattern shapes if you want a refresher.
- Choose: act now on a clear signal, note it and wait for a confirmation, or do nothing because no clear pattern is there.
- Read what happened over the next trading days, whether price broke the recent high or low along the way, and the thought that follows your choice.
- Choose Try another to move to the next stretch of history.
What to notice
- A real chart does not owe you a pattern
- Some windows do not resolve into anything. Doing nothing is a legitimate reading, not a missed one.
- Seeing the shape is step one
- The shape is only the first step. A confirmed break and a plan for your risk are the second, and the Lab asks you to separate them.
- A level can break and reverse
- Price can push through a recent high or low and still end the window somewhere else. The reveal says what happened along the way and where it ended, because the gap between the two is part of the lesson.
How a stretch unfolds (hypothetical)
You see 60 real trading days in which a share has stayed in a range, touching a high near ₹1,200 three times. You choose Note it, but wait for a confirmation. The reveal shows the next 20 trading days: price pushed above ₹1,200 along the way, then pulled back and ended 1.5 percent lower. The Lab notes that waiting for a confirmed break, with a plan for your risk, is the discipline the lesson builds, because the shape alone did not decide the outcome.
What this Lab does not show
- A handful of stretches of history cannot show how often a pattern works. One window proves nothing either way.
- The Lab uses real daily prices, but it ignores costs, slippage and your own risk limits, and it does not model a full trade.
- It does not recommend any trade or pattern. Maetis does not give trading advice.
- If you are signed in, your earlier choices are saved to your account so the Lab can ask about them next time. Deleting your account removes them. Signed out, nothing is saved.
Common questions
- What are chart patterns?
- Recurring shapes in a price chart, such as a range, a double top or a breakout, that traders use to think about what might happen next.
- Does a chart pattern predict the next move?
- No. It describes what has already happened and suggests what to watch. It does not tell you what will happen.
- Why does the Lab use real prices?
- Because real charts are messy. A textbook shape is easy to see, and a real one often is not, which is the skill the Lab trains.
- Is doing nothing a valid answer?
- Yes. Many real windows do not show a clear pattern, and recognising that is a reading, not a failure.
